15 Instagram Travel Accounts to Inspire Your Wanderlust
- Are you as addicted to Instagram as I am? When I’m not on the road myself I can (and do) spend hours scrolling through stunning images to sate my wanderlust and get ideas for where I’d like to go next. With thousands of travel accounts out there I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you guys. I’m not including any mega-accounts because 1) you’re probably already following them and 2) there are some really fantastic smaller accounts out there that deserve a bit more love. Each account I’ve featured has a little something different that draws me eye; vivid images, compelling storytelling and personalities that leap from the screen keep me coming back for more. In no particular order, here are 15 Instagram travel accounts to inspire your next trip.
Kristin Luna @lunaticatlarge
Kristin is the force behind the popular travel blog Camels and Chocolate and her joie de vivre splashes across her Instagram feed. Whether she’s exploring her hometown of Nashville or jetting across the globe this girl knows how to have fun.
Eric Stoen @travelbabbo
Eric Stoen of Travel Babbo aims to show there is far more to family travel than theme parks and beaches. He takes his kids on a one-on-one trip each year where each child gets to pick the destination and whether they are dining with giraffes in Kenya, wandering the streets of Paris or splashing through the turquoise waters of Tahiti Eric shows that you can #takeyourkidseverywhere .
I haven’t posted anything from Antarctica lately, so in the spirit of my #takeyourkidseverywhere hashtag, I’m going to do several posts this week. Antarctica was incredibly kid-friendly, because of the penguins, whales and other wildlife, but also because of the hikes, kayaking, snow angels and snowball fights. My daughter was 8 when we went and it was a perfect age. I keep hoping my other kids want to go as well – I’d love to go back! This was a New Years Day excursion off of our @lindbladexp ship. #ngexpeditions #nationalgeographictravel #traveldeeper #afarambassador
Sherry Ott @ottsworld
One of the first travel bloggers I started following Sherry Ott of Ottsworld has been traveling the world non-stop since 2006. Her stunning travel photos are some of the best out there.
Friends or enemies? These two bears moments before were sparring – you can even see a little blood on the bear that’s laying down. Bears often spar as they wait for the sea ice to form so they can get in shape for hunting once the ice is back. After all, they’ve been just wandering around waiting for ice for 4 months now…sort of like couch potatoes. Now its time to get serious – the ice is arriving soon! #frenemies #fb
Juliana Dever @cleverdever
I had the pleasure of meeting Juliana a few years ago in Boston and I’ve loved following her adventures ever since. Her cheerful personality shines through in her feed and if she looks a bit familiar you may know her better as her alter ego Jenny Ryan from the TV show Castle.
In honor of #nationallighthouseday… Me, treading carefully on the rocks above Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia. It was so foggy this day, punctuating the need for said lighthouse. The notion of lighting the way home is so romantic and comforting, I think it must be what ignites all of our imaginations when we swoon over lighthouses, yeah?
Tamara Elliot @globeguide
Tamara and I first met at Quebec’s Winter Carnival over maple taffy and ice cider and her Instagram feed really shows Canada at its best. Heli-hiking in British Columbia anyone?
Keryn Means of @walkingontravels
Keryn and I bonded over steamed crabs and chardonnay on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and whether she’s jetting to Europe with her two kids in tow or living it up at a posh Caribbean resort her feed will give you major trip envy.
Pola Henderson of @jetting.around
Pola is a recent transplant to Paris and her images as she explores her new home always keep me coming back for more.
Matt Long of @Landlopers
Matt Long of Landlopers may be the best travel story teller on Instagram. His Instagram feed is packed with beautiful images from around the world with detail descriptions that read like mini blog posts.
Today I’m continuing my end of the year series by highlighting another favorite travel experience, as well as my most recent, Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Sailing with Windstar Cruises for a week, I visited a variety of islands around the Society Islands, but I think Bora Bora was my favorite due in large part to the night I spent at Le Meridien Bora Bora. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay in an overwater bungalow and when I saw that the ship overnighted in Bora Bora, I knew that my chance had finally come. I was a little skeptical before my stay, when experiences look too good to be true they usually are, but I’m happy to say that in this instance my expectations were quickly surpassed. The luxury bungalow was my happy place. I can still feel that sensation of total happiness; of contentment on a level I rarely enjoy to be honest. Part of it had to do with the environment. For decades I’ve wanted to visit Bora Bora, and to be in a bungalow with amazing views of the island’s most famous mountain was almost too much for my brain to take. Add in luxury comforts and I am struggling to think of another resort where I’ve been so happy. There’s a special magic here and I would do anything to recapture it if only for a few days.
Noel Morata @ Noel_Morata
I’ve been following Noel’s blog Travel Photo Discovery for a few years and I know when one of his images comes across my feed it’s going to be something good. Whether he’s showing off his home state of Hawaii or hitting the road his pictures are always beautiful.
Cory Lee @curbfreecorylee
Cory is a personal friend and blogger who writes about accessible travel. As a wheelchair traveler Cory has visited far flung destinations throughout the globe including Iceland, South Africa and Israel.
Leah Walker @leahtravels
Leah is another expat in Paris as well as a top luxury travel blogger. I love her mix of everyday Paris street scenes and five star luxury.
Lori Sorrento @travelnmad
Lori is one of my more recent Instagram follows but I immediately fell in love her feed, her food pictures are especially evocative.

We spent an amazing day in #Bologna with @italiandaysfoodexperience, a food tour that’ll both knock your socks off and change the way you think about some of #Italy’s iconic #food: #DOP #parmigianoreggiano, #balsamic, and #prosciutto. 🧀 . Check out the latest post on the blog for all the yummy details and photo tours of all three foods plus the #Italian feast we had for lunch! ✨ . @bolognawelcome #foodporn #foodiegram #authentic #foodie #yum #omnomnom #quality #travel #cityoffood #bolognayourdestination #italy #italianfood @turismoer #emiliaromagna #travelwriter #foodblogger #wanderlust #zipkickbloggers

Esther Julee @estherjulee
No one on Instagram does a better job of making me feel like I’m in the picture than Esther Julee of Local Adventurer. Her stunning images will have you packing your bags immediately.
Can you tell I started photoshopping in some balloons (but then got too tired to add in the rest)? 😜 How many do you think I added? I had no idea how photoshopped a lot of the Cappadocia photos were. Still very pretty but not always filled in and perfectly spaced out like I imagined. The better balloon photos are coming soon, but I’m sharing this one first bc I just loved this one of us. @expatedna @girlvsglobe @tiebowtie 👯👯 #lovefromturkey #turkishairlines #tkmoments
Brianna Simmons @casualtravelist
