A Waterfront Getaway at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay

The more of the Bay I see the more I want to explore every inlet, every waterway and every town. It was this desire to know all things Chesapeake Bay that brought me to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, Maryland.

Walking into the Hyatt’s expansive lobby it was clear the hotel drew inspiration from the beauty of the surrounding wetlands. Tasteful nautical accents can be found throughout the hotel and a grand two story window brings the allure of the Chesapeake in.A Waterfront Getaway at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay www.casualtravelist.comA Waterfront Getaway at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay www.casualtravelist.com

Rooms were spacious and comfortable and many feature a stunning view of the waterfront (trust me, you want that water view). Wide balconies are the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee watching the rhythm of the bay. Rumor has it that a major renovation of all the rooms is underway with updates in keeping with the contemporary design that the Hyatt Regency brand is best know for.A Waterfront Getaway at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay www.casualtravelist.comThe Hyatt Regency is well known for its kids’ activities especially the extensive pool complex. Some of my favorite kids who have visited raved about the nightly “Dive In Movies”. I had the opportunity to enjoy a massage and all the little touches, from the serene lighting to the heated massage table, just added to the sense of relaxation.

The best remedy to escape the crowds?  Just head outside. After all the waterfront location on the Choptank River (a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay) is one of the top features of the resort.

Come summer the bay takes center stage. From kyaking to fishing to sailing the Hyatt Regency offers a number of ways to get out on the water.

  1. The outside of the hotel is exactly how I like it. Winter time with no one around, warm coffee or tea watching the bay. Can’t ask for more than that. This looks like a great spot to do it!

  2. What a great spot to kayak when the weather is warmer, hopefully you can visit again!
