Winter is definitely my favorite time to travel to Iceland. You can catch the Northern Lights, enjoy the cold weather while staying warm in a hot spring, and take in the Winter Lights Festival. Amazing country!

Great post! Iceland is like nowhere else I’ve ever been. The terrain is so gorgeous and unique- definitely a place a recommend to all of my friends! I’m glad to hear your credit card worked at gas stations. As a Canadian, mine has never worked at any gas station on any trip. It seems to be a pretty common issue for Canadians. The gas station attendants would open up the pump for me and let me pay at the end, but I wasn’t able to use the unattended gas stations to fill up. It was a bit annoying and frustrating at times, so I made sure to fill up at every attended gas station if I knew I was going to be driving for a long time. You never really know when you’ll come across the next gas station in rural Iceland!
