Theย Casual Travelist is nearing ย its first birthday and one of the best things I’ve found is discovering and connecting with other travel bloggers. I’ve had the pleasure of finding a diverse and welcoming community of people equally passionate about exploring the world and there are some fantastic writers, photographers and story tellers who want to connect others with the myriad of experiences that travel has to offer. These seven bloggers have helped me along my journey or inspired me in one form or another this year andย wanted to take this opportunity to share their work with you.
This is my Happiness
I would be remiss if I didn’t include Jenna from This is my Happiness.ย While setting up The Casual Travelist I reached out to Jenna, who was kind enough to help guide me through the often rocky initial stages of blogging. She was basically my blogging mentor and helped me get the ball rolling and for that I am forever grateful. I have always enjoyed her fresh take on cultural travel with kids whether its a weekend trip in her home state of California or traveling to Brazil with two kids in tow. Her recent foray into lifestyle blogging will surely keep me inspired at home as well.
Domestiphobia
If you’re not a regular reader of Domestiphobia that is something you need to change ASAP.Her beautiful photography will draw you in but her witty sense of humor will make you stay. More than a travel blog Katie also loves to share her adventures (and misadventures) in home renovation. Did I mention she can cook too? I personally love her because she is just crazy enough to brave a midsummer thunderstorm to go stand-up paddleboarding with me for her very first time.
We 3 travel
Like me,ย Tamara of We 3 Travel loves the planning aspect of travel almost as much as the trip itself. I loved her wonderful photos from her summer trip to Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park and have been following her ever since. Her adventures usually includeย her husband and 10 year old daughter and she aims to show you that planning rewarding family travel experiences doesn’t have to be intimidating.
Turnipseed Travels
Vanessa, of Turnipseed Travels, was the first travel blogger I met in person.ย Over cocktails we discussed some of the challenges of beginning bloggers and she offered up a ton of valuable advice. Turnipseed Travels is a fabulous resource for learning where to save(hotels, transportation) so you can later splurge on the big stuff (hot air ballooning over temples in Myanmar). Word on the street has it that she also bakes up some killer brownies.
Cook,Sip,Go
Dave is an American expat currently living in East Africaย and chronicling his adventures on Cook,Sip,Go. His pictures of the street scenes, landscapes and wildlife of East Africa showcase an area of the world that few are highlighting and never fail to instill a sense of wanderlust. I can’t wait for what’s in store as his home base moves to Nairobi, Kenya.
Different doors
Revati and Charlesย are advertising gurusย living in Mumbai chronicling their travels at Different Doors. ย Seeking out boutique luxury, unique experiences and fabulous food I feel like I’m a kindred travel spirit with these two. Their vivid photographyย continues to draw me back and and they have a knack for choosing the exact experiences I would ( cooking classes in Barcelona anyone?).
Cory Lee
When not traveling and writing I earn my living as a physical therapist working very closely with people who have physical challenges. From day one I have been inspired by Cory Lee, who writes about travel from a wheelchair user’s perspective at Curbfree with Cory Lee, ย providing an invaluable voice for accessible travel for everyone. Cory doesn’t let his mobility challenges stop him from exploring the world and his recent adventures have included Australia, London and even meeting a former President of the United States. Keep on rolling Cory!
Jenna, Katie, Tamara, Vanessa, Dave, Revati, Charles and Cory- thanks for a fantastic 2014, I can’t wait to see where your adventures bring you in 2015.
Katie says
