So, this is 43. Like everyone else this year is certainly not what I thought it would be. I regularly celebrate my birthday with (what else?) a trip. Whether it’s a quick weekend away to Virginia wine country, exploring the rugged beauty of Iceland or reaching new heights in Banff getting out into the world is my favorite way to celebrate another trip around the sun. While I’m fortunate to remain healthy and employed like everyone else I have been staying home. Aside from work and the grocery store I’ve been sticking close to home working on a few projects. Let’s take a look at what I’ve been up to.
New Beginnings
I’ve been fairly quiet writing new posts here lately as I just haven’t felt right working on travel when the world is at a standstill. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing though.
I started a new food blog!
One of my greatest joys of traveling is eating and I’ve long been a passionate home cook. I’ve taken this opportunity from my time at home to create and share meals over at the Casual Foodist and I would love if you guys joined me! From shrimp with risotto and asparagus to this strawberry mint bourbon smash and delectable chocolate swirled meringue cookies I’ve been pretty busy in the kitchen. If you want to follow my culinary adventures it would mean the world to me if you subscribed.
Also just because my local gym has been closed doesn’t mean I’ve been sitting on the couch eating bonbons. I’ve been focusing on running and have a newfound love of yoga. The internal focus and the changes and progress in strength and flexibility I’ve seen with a daily practice have made me a convert. I started with a hodgepodge of free classes on Youtube but I find I really enjoy the instruction and variety of classes on Alo Moves. This is a subscription site but they also have plenty of free classes on Youtube if you want to give them a try.
Black Lives Matter
I had most of this post written when the protests started. My heart is hurting for the injustice, hatred and racism that is still an unfortunate reality in 2020. We need to have some uncomfortable conversations in the months and years to come and my hope is that we can take the actions needed so we can truly have liberty and justice for all.
