The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium is a unique addition to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Located a short drive from the popular Oceanfront resort areaย the Adventure Parkย is an aerial ropes course with over 170 platforms and a variety of of “elements” ย including bridges, obstacles and zip lines that offer up adventure with a bird’s eye view.
There are 13 trails at the Adventure Park that will satisfy everyone from young kids and newbies to adrenaline junkies. Trails are marked by difficulty similar to a ski resort with purple and yellow trails appropriate for beginners and younger kids to the black diamond and double black diamond for anyone up for an adventurous challenge.
Prior to climbing you will be properly fit with a harness and given detailed instructions on how to safely use all of the equipment. You should wear close fitting clothing as well as sneakers or hiking boots, flip- flops and sandals are a big no-no here. Safety is paramount at the Adventure Park and they utilize an “always locked on” ย double connected climbing system that helps ensure your harness is always ย connected to the safety lines.
After your orientation it’s time to start climbing! The course is designed to be explored on your own but staff are always on hand if you need any assistance. Each trail will have a variety of courses that will test your balance (and nerves at times!) but you’ll have a blast the entire time. ย After completing some of the high wire courses I was thinking I might have a future in the circus, ย I’m sure there’s got to be an act for someone who has successfully ridden a skateboard ย suspended 30 feet in the air.ย By far my favorite experience at the Adventure Park wasย hooking up the zip line and getting my Tarzan onย flying through the trees, what a rush!
Ready for some treetop thrillsย and want to give the Adventure Park a try? Check out their website atย www.virginiabeachadventurepark.comย for ticket prices, times, special events and other information.

I was at one of those last week in Canada but only did the zipline since it was pouring with rain and everything became slippery. It can be so much fun ๐
Brianna says
I can imagine having everything wet adds another layer of adventure. Where in Canada did you zip line?
Miranda Farley says
Cool adventure. I thought it was a tree house at first but a zip line. I wanna try some of this treetop thrills at Adventure Park. Hopefully soon.

It’s basically a big playground for adults.

Very fun day out :)! I love those ‘active’ days that do make you relax in the end (instead of day full of relaxing)!

I’d much rather have an active day out, I can always relax at home later ๐

Brianna says
I bet that was a fun experience for you too!

Looks like an adult adventure park! I tried something similar in Thailand, although if I were to go to this one, I would make sure not to wear flip flops only this time…
Brianna says
It is basically a giant playground for grown ups.
Bente Vold Klausen says
Looks like a great park making children (and grown ups as well) getting in contact with nature.
Brianna says
One of the best parts about the park is that it was designed to not cut into or damage the trees at all.

This would be the perfect place for my boyfriend but as I am afraid of heights I would watch him from the ground and take pictures. ๐
Brianna says
It would be a great place to face your fears!

Brianna says
With your love of climbing you’d be a natural!

This isn’t all what I would associate with Virginia Beach. I was there only once, for a few days in the mid 1980s when we camped on a beach. I wish this had existed then. ๐
Brianna says
There are a lot of things that surprise people about Virginia Beach not least of which is all the green space.
Alli says
I like your style! Active and adventurous!
Brianna says
That’s how I roll!
William @NomadHeadTravel says
I’ve done ropes courses during high school before, looks like fun!

Brianna says
Climbing and flying through the trees, what’s not to like?
Christy@Confessions of a Serial Do-it-Yourselfer says
I am just a short walk away and we have been watching them build this all winter. I can’t wait to go check it out, it looks like so much fun!! Your pics answered a lot of questions I had about it. ๐
Brianna says
You’ll love it! Call me if you need a climbing buddy ๐
Emma says
That looks brilliant fun! Love the look of the course! They specialise in them in this part of the world, and quite often people come here to train when they want to put them up elsewhere. I am not brave enough to do them, but my children love them! ๐
Brianna says
Give it a shot, you may surprise yourself! Thanks for stopping by!
frankaboutcroatia says
Virginia Beach is the first place I’ve visited in USA. And it always holds a special place in my heart. However I haven’t visited this Adventure Park. Close to where we live in Croatia we’ve got a similar park (although smaller), and we absolutely love visiting it. Goid luck with your new found talents ๐
Brianna says
Virginia Beach has changed a lot in the past 15 years I’ve been here. Croatia is definitely on my must visit list and like you I’m afraid I’d find it hard to leave.
Marissa says
Wow, this looks like crazy amounts of fun! This is definitely going on my to-do list for this summer!
Brianna says
Its an awesome activity for summer and with its proximity to the Aquarium and the beach you’re perfectly situated for a full day of summer fun!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by! Have fun at Go Ape, I was nervous with some of the activities but knew that safety was paramount. I took a leap of faith and had a blast!
Carmen@CarmensTravelTips says
What a fun place for the kids and adults. I’m not sure I would have the courage to zip line.
Brianna says
I encourage you to give it a try! The easier courses are a great opportunity to get your feet wet.
Elena says
Been to the pretty same one in Kiev! It was awesome, yet the last track was super hard and I’ve nearly made it till the end. Hope to make it to Virginia beach one day too!
Brianna says
Hit me up if you make it to VB, I’ll give you a local’s tour. Thanks for stopping by!
Elena says
Brianna, thanks! Not sure if that happens this year, but I’ll keep that in mind ๐
Michele {Malaysian Meanders} says
Looks like a ton of fun! We have something similar near us in Malaysia and were wondering if they are in the USA, too. I’m won’t do anything harder than a Green, but my son like to do the hardest level. A woman in front of him had to be rescued and lowered to the ground because she didn’t have the upper body strength to finish the course.
Brianna says
They are growing in popularity here in the US. I can’t imagine having to be rescued from the course!
Illia says
Looks like a lot of fun. We’ll be in the USA soon, thanks for telling about this great place ๐
Brianna says
I hope you enjoy your travels throughout the USits such a diverse country.
Adelina | PackMeTo says
This looks like so much fun! There are a couple of these parks near me, but I’ve never actually gone to one. I’m a bit afraid of heights, but I would give this a go.
Brianna says
It was a ton of fun! Once you get over your initial fear and realize the safety mechanisms are very secure its easier to get out and test yourself.
Anna | slightly astray says
How fun!! I’ve always wanted to do one of those ropes courses!! There’s one in Los Angeles (I haven’t tried), but it looks like nothing compared to this. This one looks like such a fun one because it’s in the woods.
Brianna says
I especially liked that its self guided. Adventure at your own pace!
Hannah says
That looks fun! We have a couple areas like that close to home but I haven’t had a chance to try it. One day!
Brianna says
I highly recommend it, it was a blast!
Erin of No Ordinary Nomad says
That looks so much fun! I’m going to have to seek one of those out near me, I’d love to give it a go.
Brianna says
This one was a lot of fun, you’ll have a blast!
Carmen (CarmensTravelTips) says
Sounds like a fun place especially for kids. I normally avoid anything that requires me to wear a harness and involves heights, since I have a fear of heights. Thanks for linking up this week.
Brianna says
That’s the beauty of the harness and the safety features. You should give it a try, I bet you’d surprise yourself!
anna parker says
i once did something similar in the uk, but on an icy day – it added the extra dimensioning of being slippery at all times! Good fun, but I will probably stay land-based in future!
Lauren says
This looks like a lot of fun! I did something similar a number of years back at Horseshoe Resort in Ontario (Canada). I felt very accomplished doing all of the walks across planks up high like that! Thanks so much for linking up with #WeekendWanderlust this week! ๐ Hope to see you back again!
Brianna says
It was great fun, I’d love to try some different ones.
Connie Reed says
This looks like so much fun! It seems lately I cross one thing off my bucket list and add two more as I find out about more fun adventures.
Brianna says
It was a blast flying through the trees! Definitely a fun experience.
Jennifer Martin says
I love to experience treetop zip line adventure tour above the forested valley. I had my first experience of treetop zip lining at Flying Fox Kikar Lodge which is in Punjab, India. I really enjoyed the 90 minute experience of 5 zip lines over the forested valley and was lucky to view some wildlife as well during the zip tour.
Rachel Jones says
Wow… This does look… thrilling. And almost a bit dangerous! LOL. I know they take good care of you there though. I have been wanting to do this, but I’ll live vicariously through your photos for now . ๐
Thanks for this post! I found it through Pinterest. I know I’ll come to the Adventure Park on of these days.
Brianna says
It was a ton of fun!
