If you’re like me you need a good cup of coffee to start your day. When you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I recommend you skip the mermaid and gas station coffee and get your caffeine buzz from one of these local cafes instead. Whether you want your cup of joe black or want a sweet iced latte I’ve done rounded up what I think are the best coffee shops in Virginia Beach.

Three Ships Coffee
Brad Ewing and his wife Amy, a certified wine professional, began roasting in their garage and selling their beans and brew at the Old Beach Farmer’s Market. Today their brick and mortar location in the ViBe Creative District is known for their amazing coffee and is one of the best places to eat in Virginia Beach. Roasted in small batches, Three Ships Coffee is fruity and complex, highlighting the nuances of each coffee whether served as a pour-over or cold brew. During the summer be sure to try an Iced Pungo Latte, a layered drink featuring espresso, milk and fresh local strawberry puree. Pair your coffee with a scratch made ham biscuit or a flaky Nutella handpie.
Location- 607 19th St, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Roast Rider
Roast Rider is a sleek cafe in the Hilltop area that takes good coffee seriously. From a curated selection of expertly roasted beans to a state of the art Simonelli Aurelia espresso machine to a changing roster of housemade syrups the folks at Roast Rider are committed to latte perfection.
Location – 1554 Laskin Rd #116, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Town Center Cold Pressed
Town Center Cold Pressed (aptly located in the Virginia Beach Town Center) features an extensive menu of healthy juices, Smuices (juice smoothies) grain bowls and sandwiches but what I really love are their superfood lattes. My personal favorites are their pistachio latte (made with pistachio milk) and their draft Vietnamese iced coffee.
Java Surf
Another local favorite in the ViBe Creative Arts District Java Surf has been providing Virginia Beach with it’s caffeine fix since 2005. Grab a cortado or French Toast latte to go along with one of their panini-pressed breakfast wraps to fuel up before a day out hitting the waves or enjoying many of the fun things to do along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
Location – 1807 Mediterranean Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
American Brew
American Brew is a one-of-a-kind coffee and whiskey cafe in the Chick’s Beach area of Virginia Beach. Popular with locals and in-the-know visitors the food menu has plenty of healthy and tasty options day and night. Whether you come for the iced churro latte or come for one of the whiskey tasting events American Brew won’t disappoint.
Location – 3584 E Stratford Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455
Pourfavor
Located inland Pourfavor is a hidden gem you can’t miss. This cozy cafe is known for their rotating lineup of seasonal coffee flights allowing you to try several of their creative latte creations (both hot and iced). Also be sure to sample a pastelito, a tasty guava pastry, at this Puerto Rican owned coffee shop.
Location- 5705 Lynnhaven Pkwy, Virginia Beach, VA 23464
Sawdust Road
Housed in a restored farmhouse in the bucolic rural area of Pungo Sawdust Road serves up coffee, fresh fruit smoothies, breakfast and lunch with a side of southern charm. Order a housemade honey lavender latte and a pimento bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, grab a seat on the front porch and enjoy the country life.
Location-1791 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23456
May’s Parlor
In what may be the cutest little beach cottage in Virginia Beach, you’ll find Racheal Browning crafting some of the best pastries you’ll find on this side of the Atlantic. Using premium ingredients and European technique May’s Parlor features an ever changing menu of creative pastries and croissants. Pair your pastry with an expertly pulled cappuccino or iced latte.
Location- 2708 Pacific Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451

I love a good coffee shop! These all look and sound amazing. I still haven’t been to Virginia Beach yet, even though I lived away at college in Virginia for four years. I will need to go at some point in the future. 🙂

17 Hands is missing from this list. I’ve been to most of these and they’re really good. But q7 Hands is the cream of the crop.
