Annapolis, Maryland has all the ingredients necessary for a great getaway; charming streets filled with history,a thriving restaurant scene and a prime location on the Chesapeake Bay all make for a perfect weekend break. Since I was in town for an event I was thrilled when my friend recommend I stay at the Loews Annapolis.Having recently stayed at the Loews Madison in Washington DC I knew I was in for a treat, the Loews brand focuses on easy luxury with a taste of the local destination.Located a few blocks from the bustle of Main Street, the Loews Annapolis is within walking distance of many of Annapolis’s best restaurants and popular sights but is quiet enough to be a true retreat to return to at the end of the day.
I arrived to the hotel after a long drive to find a plate of delectable chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of Cabernet franc- they really now how to welcome a girl! My corner suite was spacious with a supremely comfortable bed and the decor was thoroughly American with a touch of Nordic minimalism. Being a city hotel there is not much of a view however there was plenty of natural light making the room a bright, airy retreat to return to during the day.The bathroom was fairly standard but adequate for two to get ready in the morning. Should you absolutely have to do some work while visiting Annapolis, a tech-friendly desk with extra outlets for charging and an ergonomic office chair make your workspace a little more pleasant.
The decor throughout the hotel is modern with a nautical spin- perfectly befitting the city of Annapolis. Common areas invite guests to relax and connect with each other; inside comfortable seats are arranged near cozy fireplaces with classic board games serving as centerpieces (Scrabble anyone?), while outside on the patio you can easily spend a few hours chatting with friends over cocktails. Every time I entered the airy lobby I was greeted cheerfully by the friendly staff, they were genuinely interested in how I was experiencing Annapolis.
Unfortunately I did not get a chance to experience the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Baroak, during my stay. Best known for moulles frites (Chef Teddy Folkman has won multiple awards for having the best mussels in D.C.) and craft beer as well as their popular bottomless mimosas during weekend brunch I will definitely make a stop at Baroak on my next trip to Annapolis.
Comfortable rooms, great food and a location in the charming historic district are all fantastic reasons to stay at the Loews Annapolis but its the friendliness of the staff and genuine service that will keep me coming back.
I was graciously hosted by Visit Annapolis and the Loews Annapolis but as always all opinions remain my own.

What a beautiful hotel. I love that even though they are a large hotel chain, the style of the hotel is in keeping with the location. Looks like a great getaway!

Looks like such a cozy place! That’s an odd contraption by the fire place though.

Art is always in the eye of the beholder. I thought it added some interest to the lobby area.
