With an easy-going mix of down home Texas charm, live music on every corner and one of the hottest food scenes in the country its no surprise that Austin has quickly become one of my favorite cities. When a tech conference brought Steve and I to Austin over our fifteenth wedding anniversary I know I wanted to celebrate in style. What better place to treat myself and the hubby than the Four Seasons Austin?
Entering the lobby the understated elegance of the Four Seasons was immediately evident with the decor giving a nod to the surrounding Texas Hill Country. Plush seating throughout was welcoming (and later proved to be an excellent place to enjoy a night cap) with my favorite being the cowhide sofa. Usually a cowhide sofa screams cowboy kitsch but at the Four Seasons it totally worked, adding a bit of Austin quirk to the inviting lobby.
I had a city view room with views of San Jacinto Boulevard leading downtown. The spacious bathroom featured L’Occitane toiletries but really the best part of any Four Seasons room is the bed. I’m pretty sure there is a divine hand involved because sleeping in a Four Seasons bed is the closest thing to heaven on earth. The supremely comfortable down bedding offered up one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had on the road. Austin is a town that takes its brunch seriously and the Four Seasons’ restaurant Trio offers one of the most decadent brunches in the city. I enjoyed a leisurely Sunday enjoying the extensive buffet that includes smoked Texas ribeye, crab claws and caviar but my favorite had to have been the lobster poblano crepe made by the skillful hands of chef Norma. A splendid dessert display caught my eye all morning and when I finally dug into my bourbon pecan tartlet and pistachio panna cotta I was glad I saved room. Oh, did I mention the endless mimosas?
With splendid weather year round Austin is a city that lives outside. The Four Seasons takes advantage of its stunning location on Lady Bird Lake with its back lawn where you can take a dip in the pool or kick back with a glass of wine. The Four Seasons really has the best location in the city; in minutes you can walk to the Texas State Capitol, explore the boutiques along 2nd Avenue, check out the live music scenes on 6th or Rainey streets, or head across the water for the “Keep Austin weird” of South Congress Avenue. Sadly the spa was under renovation so I was unable to check out was is regarded as one of the top spas in the city.
As if I needed another reason to love the Four Seasons Austin it is the only Zero Waste hotel in the state of Texas. It’s this commitment to sustainability coupled with stellar service and understated luxury that makes the Four Seasons Austin a top choice in the Texas capital.

Wow Four Season at Austin looks really beautiful. I love the chocalates that they prepared for you! Are they tasty? The ambience of the hotel is great too.

The chocolates were delish, especially the spiced pecans.

That looks lovely! We’ve travelled around the US fairly extensively ( for non Americans!) but never been to Texas, we really should. Love that they’re committed to sustainability, that’s always good to see.
Brianna says
Austin is a fantastic city and the Four Seasons is unparalleled.

I think Four Seasons as magical places. The best in luxury and style. Any place that has its own hammocks is high on my list!
Brianna says
I need a few hours in that hammock with a good book and a glass of wine.

Woah. The hotel looks awesome. Much more upmarket than the places I’m used to staying – but I could be tempted to splash out.
Brianna says
Everyone needs a splurge now and then.

You know that you are in Texas Hill Country when you see cowhide couches and air plants. But just in case, you could always look for the cowboy boot chocolate. Austin is such a cool, hip and vibrant town. The Four Seasons looks like a wonderful way to see the city.
Brianna says
A little bit country with a lot of luxury.

Wow! Looks like a weekend of total decadence – although all the Austin attractions would be wasted on me, because I’d probably spend all weekend asleep in that awesome bed!! And I never thought I’d say it, but that cowhide lounge actually manages to look cool.
Mags says
What a gorgeous hotel. I’ve been meaning to check out Austin (I can’t believe I still haven’t been!) . This looks like the perfect way to do that in style!

I would love to stay at a Four Seasons one day! The little succulent garden hanger things are so cute and the food looks beyond amazing!
Astrid Vinje says
I like how they put in some Texas charm into the decor, and the boot with the chocolates was a nice touch. It’s always hard with hotels chains to make a particular location feel unique, while still keeping a certain level of consistency in service and quality. It looks like the Four Seasons did a great job with this one.
Eric || The Bucket List Project says
Love everything about that 4 seasons hotel, especially the cow hide couch and the location next to the lake. Please tell me that you could eat that chocolate boot!!
Megan Jerrard says
Truly does seem like it’s the best location in the city; thanks for sharing a review of your stay. We love the Four Seasons brand and have never been disappointed – totally agree that the best part of any Four Seasons room is the bed!! Will be sure to stay here on our next trip through Austin 🙂

Beautiful! I feel honoring that Texas charm is key. What works for the 4 Seasons in NYC or Bali will not go down as well in Austin. Love the feel to the place.
