The more of the Bay I see the more I want to explore every inlet, every waterway and every town. It was this desire to know all things Chesapeake Bay that brought me to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, Maryland.
Walking into the Hyatt’s expansive lobby it was clear the hotel drew inspiration from the beauty of the surrounding wetlands. Tasteful nautical accents can be found throughout the hotel and a grand two story window brings the allure of the Chesapeake in.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable and many feature a stunning view of the waterfront (trust me, you want that water view). Wide balconies are the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee watching the rhythm of the bay. Rumor has it that a major renovation of all the rooms is underway with updates in keeping with the contemporary design that the Hyatt Regency brand is best know for.The Hyatt Regency is well known for its kids’ activities especially the extensive pool complex. Some of my favorite kids who have visited raved about the nightly “Dive In Movies”. Who wouldn’t love watching from the comfort of your favorite floaty? The Sago Spa and Salon has been recently renovated and boasts eco-friendly treatments inspired by the Bay. I had the opportunity to enjoy a massage and all the little touches, from the serene lighting to the heated massage table, just added to the sense of relaxation.
At 400 rooms there is no doubt that the resort is huge, and as a popular convention destination it can feel a bit crowded at times. The best remedy to escape the crowds? Just head outside. After all the waterfront location on the Choptank River (a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay) is one of the top features of the resort.
Visiting in late February my outdoor activities were limited to strolling along the water’s edge with a chill winter wind whipping through my hair. Come summer the bay takes center stage. From kyaking to fishing to sailing the Hyatt Regency offers a number of ways to get out on the water.
Perfect for families and groups and an easy drive from Washington DC the Hyatt Regency is a great choice for your next Chesapeake Bay getaway.
I was hosted by the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay but all opinions remain my own.

The outside of the hotel is exactly how I like it. Winter time with no one around, warm coffee or tea watching the bay. Can’t ask for more than that. This looks like a great spot to do it!

This place looks beautiful, a little large but as you’ve said easy to escape from. That waterfront looks like the perfect place to watch the sunset.
