After what seemed like a never-ending winter it feels like spring is finally here to stay. I stayed pretty close to home this month doing some spring cleaning and getting some new landscaping in but did manage a weekend away in Richmond, a city that’s popping up on a lot of must-visit lists as of late.

The big thing that happened this month is that Steve and I celebrated 16 years (16!!!!) of wedded bliss. Steve is my rock, my adventure buddy, my Instagram husband and all-around partner in crime in this game called life. I lucked out in the husband department and there is no one I’d rather stand in random doorways around the world and make googly eyes with.
To celebrate our anniversary we we headed up to Richmond,VA. I admit I’m guilty of driving by Richmond far too often en route Washington DC without stopping by but that is a mistake I won’t be making anymore. Richmond’s culinary scene is one of the most exciting in the south and the highlight was our dinner at L’opossum, which was just named the best restaurant in the south by none other than Southern Living. From diner fare to fine dining, craft beer to craft cider we ate and drank well the entire weekend. Aside from the food Richmond’s art scene is hotter than ever. Some of the country’s best street art, funky boutiques and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts show off Richmond’s creative side. In an upcoming post I’ll have more about why you should make Richmond your next weekend trip.
Our home for the weekend was the iconic Jefferson Hotel, easily one of the prettiest city hotels on the east coast. Suffice to say the Jefferson is 1000% worthy of a special occasion visit and I hope to return soon. Be sure to check out my review of the Jefferson (including a video!) and be sure to book a stay here during your next visit to Richmond.
Things I’m loving
My girl Kristin of Camels & Chocolate drops some Instagram truth.
Make this recipe for slow cooker chicken mole tacos for your Cinco de Mayo celebration (or anytime for that matter) and thank me later.
Is anyone else as excited for the return of Westworld as I am?
Now that spring is here I will be living in my TOMS Jutti flats.
