First off, I hope this post finds you healthy and well. The effects of Covid-19 continue to be felt throughout the United States and the world. While every day brings a new set of challenges and questions we all are adjusting to our new temporary reality. We are currently in week 7 of quarantine here in Virginia and thankfully our numbers remain relatively low. I’ve settled into my new normal and while there is plenty to be frustrated about I’m appreciating this opportunity to slow down.
First things first, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone working on the front lines. A huge thanks not only to the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other support staff in the hospitals but especially the janitorial staff. This is hard and often thankless work and they don’t the recognition or pay they deserve typically but definitely now.
Let’s also give a shout out to the grocery staff, people working in the food supply chain and all of the people delivering everything to our doors. Thank you for keeping us fed and stocked.
Small businesses and people currently out of work, I see you. I see your frustrations and the way you’ve adapted. Like all of you I’m hoping we get to start opening things up again safely and soon.
I have to admit I am pretty fortunate in this current situation. Both Steve and I are still working and I am finding joy in this unexpected opportunity to pause and reset. I personally feel a little disingenuous creating new travel posts right now but that doesn’t mean I’ve been twiddling my thumbs. If you follow my Instagram stories you know I’ve been cooking up a storm. I’ve always enjoy cooking and the process of creating something delicious from the most basic of ingredients. This time has also allowed me to work on something I’ve wanted to do for a while now – I’m starting a new food site! It’s almost ready to launch and I’ll be sure to let you know once it’s up and going!
Stay healthy and be well gang.
