February, the month we celebrate groundhog shadows, love and a couple of our nation’s favorite presidents. It was also the month I had my first big adventure of 2018 and let me tell you guys, it felt good to get back out on the road. Over the long Presidents’ Day weekend I was able to head back to Las Vegas and St. George, Utah; a couple of places I hadn’t visited since my grad school days when I lived in Las Vegas during an internship.
Can you tell I was excited?
I had exactly one day in Las Vegas which for me was plenty. Gambling isn’t my jam but dinner at David Chang’s Momofuko (complete with a fabulous view of the Las Vegas Strip), the artistry of Cirque de Soleil’s “O” and the luxurious Spa at the Mandarin Oriental?
Now we’re talking.
Also I always love meeting up with the ever-lovely Keryn Means of Walking On Travels and Twist Travel Magazine (seriously, the latest issue is gorgeous!). We caught up over fancy cocktails and got excited over the weekend’s adventures we’d be having in and around Zion National Park.
St. George, Utah is only 90 minutes from Las Vegas and is home to some of the most stunning scenery in the country. I was in town for #InstameetStGeorge , where I got to explore Zion National Park, Snow Canyon State Park and Red Cliffs Desert Reserve with an amazing group of adventurers. I was especially stoked to finally meet a few of my favorite blogging pals in person, including Kristin of Camels & Chocolate , Jade of Vagabond3 and Corinne of Five Foot Adventurer. I’ll share more about my south Utah adventures in the coming weeks, but I just couldn’t wait to share a few pictures with you guys.
It was also great to see my friend Eric who drove down with his kiddos from the Salt Lake area to share in our red rock adventures. Eric and I served in the Navy together (it seems like a lifetime ago) and I can’t pass up an opportunity to reconnect with my Navy family. I think his daughter may have even caught the travel blogging bug!
Things I’m loving
Peak bloom for the cherry blossoms in Washington DC has been predicted for March 17-20. Check out my post to plan your trip to Washington DC during cherry blossom season.
Try this green chicken chili recipe from Saveur and thank me later.
The Metro 7/8 Tight by Athleta may be my new favorite traveling pants.

That experience in St. George looks like it was amazing. What a good idea for an outdoor trip in the winter!
