At the Casual Travelist I’ve mainly focused on inspiring destinations, as well as tips and products that make travel a little easier. I’ve been wanting to inject a little more of a personal side to this blog for a while and with turning forty recently I thought this would be as good a time as any to start. With Monthly Musings I’ll share the highs and lows of the previous month, articles of interest as well as a few deals for you guys.
As I mentioned before I turned the big 4-0 this month and few months preceding this milestone birthday was marked with a whole lot of indecision, like I was lucky to make it out the door fully clothed each day level of indecision. Case in point, I’ve known for a while that I wanted to go on a long weekend trip for Independence Day but could not make a definitive decision on where to go. I had at least 3 possible itineraries planned for different places and just could not decide on a place. The clock was ticking so finally, 2 weeks before departure day, I finally pulled the trigger and got some plane tickets.
So where am I going?
Colorado!

I’m heading to Denver to meet up with some friends followed by a few days in Breckenridge. It’s my first time in the Rocky Mountain State and I’m looking to do some hiking, horseback riding and possibly some whitewater rafting. I’d love to hear any suggestions you guys have for me.

I’ve been following your blog and I think adding a little “personal” stuff is a good idea. Traveling is great, but the effects of traveling on us and how it shapes other aspects of our our lives is also important. Enjoy Colorado! You’ll love Breckenridge!

I remember you asking on Facebook about weed-end travel ideas and among the destinations there was Colorado too. I think this is the best time of year to go in the Rocky Mountains and try horseback riding and whitewater rafting. I’m curious to hear how you liked Colorado. We love it there, but it’s been a while since we last went. By the way, Happy (belated) Birthday!
