When it comes to planning a no fuss vacation you can’t beat a cruise but the trick is making sure you choose the right cruise line and the right ship. I was recently invited by Norwegian Cruise Line to experience their newest ship, the Encore, and this ship checks off a lot of boxes whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or family fun. If you’re looking to sail to either Bermuda or the Eastern Caribbean let’s take a look at why you should book the Norwegian Encore for your next cruise.

I was graciously hosted by Norwegian Cruise Lines but as always all opinions remain my own.
Much like the Norwegian Bliss I was struck by the thoughtful design of the Norwegian Encore. With over 2,000 staterooms the Encore can host around 4,000 guests but with the size and layout of the ship I never felt crowded. The centerpiece of the ship’s interior is 678 Ocean Place featuring a 3 story lighted staircase and beautiful sculptural chandelier, both of which changed colors. At the bow of the ship on Deck 15 you’ll find the observation lounge where you can enjoy a snack or a drink, settle into a cozy chair with a good book or enjoy the views from a 2 story panoramic window.
I stayed in a mini-suite, a 250 square foot cabin featuring a balcony and a supremely comfortable queen size bed. The layout was well thought out with plenty of space, storage and additional seating. As a frequent traveler I especially loved the my suite had plenty of outlets and USB ports for charging devices as well as individual reading lights. The Encore also features studio rooms for single travelers as well as larger and adjoining suites for families .
Haven Suites on the Norwegian Encore
The Haven is Norwegian’s prestige hideaway on the Encore and offers unparalleled luxury and service. Haven suites range from 400-1500 square feet with dedicated butler and concierge service and a private observation lounge. The Haven is a “ship within a ship” and comes with it’s own deck, pool and restaurant allowing for a more secluded getaway but you also have the rest of the entertainment and food options right at your fingertips.
Activities and Entertainment on the Norwegian Encore
Whether you crave a bit of adrenaline or want to take some much needed down time the Norwegian Encore has you covered. Challenge your friends to a real-life version of Mario Kart on the largest race track at sea, or channel your inner Lara Kroft at the Lost City of Atlantis themed laser tag. Also be sure to check out Galaxy’s Edge, Norwegian’s virtual reality gaming lounge.
The Norwegian Encore doesn’t slack when it comes to water fun on board with 3 different pools, 2 waterslides and 9 hot tubs. Kids will love splashing around in the AquaPark, while adults who want a bit of seclusion should head up to the adult’s only Vibe Beach Club. Looking for a thrill? Be sure to check out the two multi-story water slides, Ocean Loops which takes you out over the ocean or the super fun Aqua Racer.
If you are in need of the ultimate in relaxation make sure to check out the Encore’s Mandara Spa. Head to the Thermal Suite where you can take in relaxing ocean views from the heated loungers, detox in the salt crystal room or recharge in the snow room. For the ultimate pampering chose from a variety of spa treatments including massages, facials and even acupuncture.
Norwegian is known for having top notch entertainment and the Encore is no exception. Nightly entertainment includes the Tony award winning musical Kinky Boots, or check out Choir of Man, an interactive performance that will have you clapping for hours.
Food on the Norwegian Encore
With over 20 restaurants on board the dining options on board the Encore have something for just about everyone. Complimentary options abound as well as options for specialty meal and drink packages. The Local, a casual neighborhood pub is open 24 hours while the Garden Cafe provides delicious buffet options at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Savor, Taste, and the Manhattan Room provide delicious chef prepared dishes to suit every taste.
The Encore has a host of specialty restaurants as well (at extra cost unless you get a specialty dining package). Teppanyaki is Norwegian’s take on the Japanese hibachi experience while Q Texas Smokehouse brings an authentic BBQ to sea.
Discerning palates have plenty of options as well. Onda by Scarpetta offers an upscale Italian experience while French favorite Le Bistro is a perfect date night escape. Make sure to check out Los Lobos for an elevated take on Mexican cuisine.
Unique to Norwegian is their Meet the Winemaker Series on Select cruises that brings esteemed winemakers and industry experts on board for in-depth wine experiences. I was lucky enough to participate in a tasting with renowned winemaker Michael Mondavi, who has partnered with Norwegian to offer a curated wine experience with their wine bar “The Cellars”.
Great Stirrup Cay
If you choose one of Encore’s Caribbean sailings there’s a good chance you’ll get to visit Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian’s very own private island in the Bahamas. With white sand beaches and clear turquoise water Great Stirrup Caye is an island paradise. Choose from a number of exciting activities or excursions like snorkeling or swimming with stingrays.
For the ultimate luxury island experience be sure to book a private villa in Silver Cove. Silver Cove comes with it’s own secluded beach, dedicated restaurant and a even a swanky beach-side Moet champagne bar!
