So this is forty one. Another ride around the sun under the books. I approached forty with a little bit of trepidation and for the most I’ve become comfortable with this new decade. This past year has also brought some absolutely amazing travel experiences.
Every once in a while the little insecurities of the ticking clock do rear up from time to time. A couple more lines at the corner of my eyes. A few new scars across my belly. Weird aches and pains that don’t go away quite as fast as they used to.The fact that a lot of society doesn’t quite know what to do with a woman in her forties who isn’t a mother.
But then I think about all the good things. Those lines at the corners of my eyes come from years of smiles and laughter. I’m alive because of those scars on my belly. I have a great husband, wonderful family and amazing friends (both at home and those I’ve met through my travels) who make my life full. I can still rock a bikini if I so choose.
A lot of great things came with that big 4-0 as well. I’m exceedingly more comfortable in my skin. I don’t feel the need to constantly please all of the people all of the time. On the blog side things have never been better. I’ve been blessed to have had some amazing adventures in the past year-Morocco (both in Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains), Portugal, Zion and cruising on the Norwegian Bliss; all done while holding down a day job that I truly enjoy. I’ve even had some great opportunities that I’ve turned down because they just weren’t a perfect fit for me at this time.
The future is never certain, but I’m excited to see what forty-one brings and I’m grateful that you guys have chosen to come along for the ride.

Happy birthday!! Welcome to the decade!! I too am childless in my forties with no plans on changing that in the near future. I had always planned on them but, well, life happens and I’m better than good with that. Bring on the travel and independence.

Happy birthday! I think one of the greatest things about getting older is caring so much less about what other people think. And it just keeps getting better!
